'The Grand Tour Presents Carnage a Troisâ sees Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May asking questions of French cars. Image credit Amazon Prime Video The Grand Tour Presents is back! Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have never been afraid of being outspoken, and in their latest motoring special, Carnage A Trois they pose the question "Whatâs the matter with the French?" In search of answers, the petrolhead pals look at some typically idiosyncratic French car designs, including the bizarre "helicar" which comes complete with a huge propeller. They also stage a rallycross race in hot French hatchbacks, take three Gallic family cars offroad up a mountain, and, in a grand finale, select which motor they will attempt to fire back across the Channel using a giant caught up with The Grand Tour presenter James May for an interview to find out more about their French-themed caper Carnage A TroisâŠThe Grand Tour Presents Carnage a Troisâ release dateThe Grand Tour Presents Carnage A Trois is available worldwide from Friday 17 December on Amazon Prime Video. What are the best things about French cars? The 'true people's car', the Citroen 2CV. Image credit Amazon Prime VideoThe Grand Tour Presents star James May says âThe 2CV was a fantastic example of a true peopleâs car, designed to meet the needs of someone who wanted basic transport. They also did that with the Renault 4. And theyâre absolute masters of the hatchback.âAnd the worst? The 'only vaguely successful French luxury carâ, the Citroen DS. Image credit Amazon PrimeâFrench cars have had a reputation for fragility, and their larger cars are often underpowered and slightly lacklustre. The only vaguely successful French luxury car has been the Citroen DS.âWhat did you enjoy most about making this special? James and the Giant Catapult. Image credit Amazon Prime VideoJames May says âI liked firing the trebuchet [giant catapult], because Iâve never done that before. And I was surprised how much I enjoyed the hot hatch race. But I felt bad about it afterwards because Iâm not supposed to enjoy that sort of thing.âLe hatch chaud' is a French speciality Image credit Amazon Prime VideoWhich British car do you think the French should fire back across the Channel? The Morris Minor is a stupid car' Image credit Amazon Prime VideoJames says âThe obvious answer would be the Austin Allegro or the Morris Marina. But I would have the French throw the Morris Minor at us. We all think itâs important to the nature of Britain because my grandmother had oneâ, and it was always being driven by midwives. But itâs just a stupid car that was incorrectly built. So if the French would like to gather up all the survivors and catapult them at Kent, they can do us a favour.âYouâve worked together for so long now. Whatâs the secret of your enduring success as a threesome? A difficult relationship James May with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond Image credit Amazon Prime VideoJames says âWeâve survived longer than most TV partnerships and one of the ways we do that is to go off and do our own things. It's like being in a relationship and having time to yourself in the shed, or in your attic, or in your line dancing club. Itâs a difficult relationship. There are three people in it. CategoriesThelatest series, The Grand Tour: Carnage a Trois, finds the trio in a race of their lives as they embrace French car culture ; By JasonThe Grand Tour Presents Carnage a Trois is now available to stream on Amazon Prime The warning promises dangerous behaviour and offensive language. In truth though, the latest misadventures of The Grand Tour trio is more blighted by predictable gags, lazy stereotypes and borderline xenophobia, as they investigate âwhat is the matter with the French?â To be fair, Jerome Clarkfils Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Jambonmond Richard Hammond and Capitaine Lentement James May are actually being somewhat tongue-in-cheek about the opening mission statement of Carnage a Trois now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, eventually pulling back to a mood of cheeky celebration of the quirks of Gallic culture and car manufacturing. Of course, that doesnât stop, particularly Clarkson, highlighting the banning of tomato ketchup form schools, laws that prevent lunch being eaten at your desk and the belief that most drugs should be administered anally â each delivered with a schoolboy snigger. And, shorn of the ability to actually visit the country they are mildly mocking, the whole point of pootling around England and Wales in a Citroen CX Safari, Matra Murena and Renault Avantime seems a little confuddling, especially compared to their last back-to-basics and return-to-form Lochdown special. So in lieu of any particular âbombshellsâ, weâre treated to vignettes of what is essentially mutually assured destruction and, as the title suggests, carnage. SuppliedBlighted by predictable gags, lazy stereotypes and borderline xenophobia, Hammond, May and Clarkson's latest adventure is only fitfully funny. Youâll witness a Citroen 2CV being stress-tested with the help of a helicopter, a Renault also getting air-time, three commuter cars getting trashed while off-roading a stunt designed to showcase just how vehicles are not viewed as status symbols in a country that boasts â240 different types of cheeseâ and an exemplar of the apparent laissez-faire attitude to parking and keeping panel beaters gainfully employed. Thereâs also myriad mentions of design flaws and eccentricities, like a boot release embedded into the driverâs door and, Clarksonâs clear favourite, the stereo that sits facing-up between the driver and the front passenger ânot ideal for when youâre having a cheeky pain au chocolat,â he mock laments.SuppliedIn The Grand Tour Presents Carnage a Trois, our trio celebrate the design quirks and eccentricities of French car manufacturing. But, while Clarkson appears in fine fettle, perhaps boosted by farm life, and Hammond attacks his work like the outsize jambon baguette heâs seen devouring at one point, a somewhat dishevelled-looking May his new look makes him appear to be the love child of Bill Bailey and Catweazle doesnât seem to have his heart in it, hiding his face under towels and steering away from any pranking or participation in the more insane or inane âbitsâ. With the varying success of their solo projects, maybe this is one of the original bandâs last gasps. The Grand Tour Presents Carnage a Trois is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. TheGrand Tour tent is in Kakslauttanen, Finland, deep within the Arctic Circle with a show in which Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson compare the Ford Mustang V8 and the Ford Focus RS, James May recounts the bitter 1960s battle for endurance racing supremacy between Ferrari and Ford, and the presenters run through some ideal Christmas gifts for car fans. Synopsis On a road trip, the trio dish up a hair-raising mountain climb, bomb defusals, propeller powered cars, helicopter stunts and the most thrilling race of their lives before reaching the English Channel for a jaw dropping medieval climax. Listen very carefully, I will say this review only once...I find it impossible to rank anything with the Top Gear boys objectively, as they were an essential part of my childhood. Very little divided the two genders of my childhood and I do say two, for the simple fact that we existed in a small world more than Clarkson, Hammond and May. To most men, they were stand-up lads, bantering around the world. To women, they were obnoxious misogynists, especially Jeremy Clarkson. More than one woman has expressed the desire for him to die suddenly, at which much rejoicing would happen. Going back to Top Gear after almost ten years away I stopped watching in 2011, I could see⊠Have not laughed this hard in a minute oh my god. This was unreasonably funny. The camerawork and editing were both immaculate as well. Could get bumped up in the future canât lie, some of the best Top Gear/Grand Tour ever. Is it really Christmas in the UK with out 60 mins of Jeremy Clarkson being racist Both a mildly xenophobic ribbing of and a sincere love letter to the fantastic people and cars of France big up my Peugeot 207!. Yes it's essentially three middle aged petrolheads having often contrived banter but let's be honest, that's Top Ge...The Grand Tour and we wouldn't want it any other way. With every passing episode or special, it gets sadder and sadder. However, they are still as original, creative and genuine as they've always there's still a feeling that this won't last forever. Three English gents make fun of the French automotive industry's tendency to do... peculiar things with their designs, as well as comment on French society in probably the loosest of these new, disconnected Grand Tour specials, and even at just under 70 minutes, it all feels a bit scattershot. Generally peaks in the beginning and runs out of steam as we're racing toward the finish line. But there's some solid laughs within. Dang when Tobey Maguire showed up everyone in my front room went crazy. I donât know what it says about me but I think these three are the funniest human beings ever. Pour moi de la baguette et une heure de plus s'il vous plait. Merci mes amis pour cette belle aventure. I've always despised French cars and seeing them be beaten and destroyed by some of my favourite people is exactly what I've been looking for. Jeremy Clarksonâs lane integrity is getting worse. Just something I noticed. Bienque la date de sortie de la Saison 5 de The Grand Tour reste inconnue pour lâinstant, nous pensons quâelle sera fixĂ©e pour fin 2021 ou dĂ©but 2022 sur Amazon Prime Video ! Cependant, des Ă©pisodes spĂ©ciaux devraient sortir dâici The Fourth series of the Amazon motoring show The Grand Tour, featuring ex-Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, premiered on the 13th of December, 2019 and it is unknown when it will conclude. Unlike previous seasons, the fourth season of the show has episodes airing every several months and they are only Specials. So far, five specials have been filmed, and four have released. The season may potentially be followed by a fifth, and possibly final, series. December 17th, 2021 A Scandi Flick The presenters drive across Europe's last great wilderness Upcoming - September 16th, 2022 History[] In December 2018, it was announced that The Grand Tour had been renewed beyond its original three-season order. At the time, it was announced that the show would return for an extra two years presumed to be two extra seasons. The renewal is the first, and so far only, extension of the show beyond its original announcement. Production[] Filming began in June 2019, with the trio being sighted in Vietnam and Cambodia. Filming has since taken the crew to Reunion Island and Madagascar and Scotland. Also, it is speculated to be heading to Bhutan in the future. Andy Wilman and the presenter trio have told that the production has been in jeopardy due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Changes since Season 3[] The fourth series sees the departure of the show's studio links, also ending Conversation Street segments, Eboladrome laps, and celebrity-related segments. Instead, the trio are focusing on large-scale road trips, more commonly known as Specials. The series represents the most significant overhaul of the show's format since its inception and since the revival of Top Gear, which had followed similar themes, in 2002. Another significant change from the last series, involves the airing schedule. Normally on Top Gear and The Grand Tour's Series 1, 2, 3, the episodes would air weekly during each series. However for Series 4, there would be huge gaps in between specials, as Amazon had "freed up their schedule" meaning the trio could focus on some of their own shows. History[] On the 4th of August, 2019, Clarkson divulged further information about the upcoming series, notably that the ending originally planned months in advance for their first special did not occur due to the deaths of four people in the same location, but that the ending which did happen was "one hell of an ending" regardless. On the 2nd of October 2019, Clarkson announced that the trio would film a second special in November. The trio were spotted filming on Reunion Island and Madagascar. On the 15th of August 2020, Grand Tour Nation announced that the Madagascar special will be aired on the 4th of September 2020. Amazon later claimed this released date was mistakenly announced, with no new release date given. Amazon's Alexa gave another date - 11th of December 2020, but that was also confirmed to be incorrect.[1] On the 6th of October 2020, Jeremy Clarkson revealed through his Instagram account that they had finished filming a special in Scotland.[2] James filming in ScotlandRichard filming in ScotlandJeremy filming in Scotland On the 18th of November 2020, Amazon Prime released a full-length trailer for the previously named "Madagascar" Special, revealing the release date - 18th of December 2020. The Special premiered one day early, on the 17th of December, named A Massive Hunt. During Early 2021, a DriveTribe video featured a catchup with Jeremy Clarkson where he stated they would likely be filming another special somewhere in the UK during Late April as it is still not safe to travel due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Around April 24th, The Grand Tour was seen filming in various places around Coventry. There was some slight controversy at Leamington where they held up traffic slightly. Later that week, they were seen filming at Eastbourne, near Brighton. This is now known to have been filming for Carnage A Trois. Behind the Scenes of FilmingFilming a Citroen SM with a Camera CarJeremy and Richard in a Citroen SM Trivia[] A special was planned in Russia, in March 2020, but unfortunately was cut off just before filming by the COVID-19 Pandemic so has not yet been filmed. It seems that the trio will hopefully be filming this special when it is safer to travel. Clarkson announced that a special was initially meant to be filmed in the Middle East, however due to fears of terrorism, it was cancelled. â The Grand Tour Amazon Alexa Reveals Potential Release Date Of Madagascar Special Updated â The Grand Tourâ Scotland Filming Wrapped, Did Alexa Reveal Madagascar Release Date?
